Rules of Conduct

True Sport Principles:
Participants are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the True Sport principles, promoting fairness, excellence, inclusion, and fun.

Respect and Integrity:
All individuals should treat each other with fairness, honesty, respect, and integrity, maintaining the dignity and self-esteem of others.

Avoidance of Maltreatment:
Participants must refrain from any behavior that constitutes maltreatment or prohibited conduct under the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS).

Substance Use:
The use of tobacco products, cannabis, or recreational drugs is prohibited during programs, activities, competitions, or events.

Alcohol Consumption:
Minors are prohibited from consuming alcohol, tobacco, or cannabis at any competition or event.

Financial Responsibility:
Participants are expected to conduct financial affairs responsibly and transparently, with due regard for all fiduciary responsibilities.

Community Coach Program
The Community Coach program is tailored for individuals such as parents, grandparents, or volunteers who wish to teach the basics of 5-pin bowling to new bowlers of all ages. This non-evaluated course spans approximately 7 to hours, combining in-class and on-lane instruction. Key components include:

Ethical decision-making
Planning and conducting practices
Analyzing performance
Basic technical skills of bowling
Safety considerations
Practice coaching sessions

Upon completion, participants receive a "Trained" status as a Community Coach. The course fee is typically around $40.

Competitive Coach Program
For those aiming to coach at provincial or national levels, the Competitive Coach program offers advanced training. Prerequisites include completion of the Community Coach program. The Competitive Coach course is an evaluated program lasting approximately 19 hours and covers:

Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles
Advanced performance analysis
Supporting athletes in training and competition
Developing comprehensive practice plans
Emergency action planning

After the training, coaches enter a three-month practical period to apply their skills and prepare for evaluation. Successful completion leads to a "Certified" status. The total cost, including evaluation, is approximately $175.

Additional Requirements
Coaches are also expected to complete supplementary certifications to ensure a safe and respectful environment:

Respect in Sport (RiS): An online course promoting respectful coaching practices.
Making Headway: An online module focusing on concussion awareness and management.
Universal Code of Conduct (UCCMS): Adherence to the standards preventing maltreatment in sport.
